Laig Beach Bothy sits right on the beach of Laig Bay.  With the Isle of Rum rising majestically out of the sea beyond, Laig beach is one of the most spectacular in Scotland.  It's perfect for swimming and long, lazy paddles.  Made up of a mixture of quartz black basalt and white shell, the sand constantly changes with swirling lines and fern-like patterns.  Photographers and children love it.

Its open-plan living space has a large sliding glass door and floor to ceiling windows, making the most of the views of Rum.  A large wooden deck area extends the living space out into the open - perfect for sunny morning breakfasts and evening drinks.  The sea breeze keeps the midges at bay.

Sleeping up to four people in a ground floor double room and mezzanine twin room;  with solid oak flooring and custom built furniture, Laig Beach Bothy is designed to be light, bright and contemporary.   We've made our bathroom a little bit more luxurious by adding cosy underfloor heating.

Cosy wood burning stove, solar hot water heating and Eigg's own renewable electricity means you'll be warm as toast as well as eco-friendly.

Laig Beach Bothy sits on the very edge of Laig Beach, tucked away from the main road but within easy walking or cycling distance from Cleadale. The ferry terminal and An Laimhrig, where the shop, cafe/bar and other facilities are located, are 4 miles away.

Laig Beach Bothy has free wifi.  All bed linen and towels are provided.  The kitchen is well equipped so you can make the most of local fish and other produce available.

We're sorry, but as Laig Beach Bothy is on a working sheep farm, dogs are not permitted.

We will pick you up when you arrive on Eigg pier and take you back again at the end of your holiday and provide two bikes for guests to enjoy exploring the island themselves.  The price of your holiday includes being picked up and returned to the ferry on arrival and departure.

BOOKING TERMS AND CANCELLATION POLICY

A deposit of £200 or £150 (depending on the length of your stay) is requested to confirm your booking. We will contact you 3 months before your arrival date to request payment of the remaining balance.

Please notify us of a cancellation as soon as possible. The sooner you can inform us the better, as it gives us the best chance to re-let the bothy.  Most cancellations are quickly filled at full price, and any refunds due to you are paid quickly.

If we cannot re-let the bothy at full price, we will refund you on the following basis:

  • If you cancel within 1 month of your initial booking, a full refund of your deposit will be issued.

  • If you cancel between 1 and 2 months before your arrival date, you will be refunded 50% of both your deposit and any balance you have made.

  • If you cancel within 1 month before your arrival date and we cannot re-let the bothy, no refund of either your deposit or the balance you have paid will be made.

Occasionally the ferry is disrupted or cancelled. If the weather cancels your ferry and you can’t get to Eigg on your planned arrival day, we will refund you for that night(s).  If the ferry is cancelled for technical reasons, CalMac has a compensation scheme to cover any out-of-pocket expenses, like accommodation in Mallaig.

We will only refund you for the night’s accommodation on Eigg you cannot use because of ferry cancellations. For example, if the ferry is cancelled on Saturday and then sails on Sunday but you have decided to go somewhere else for two nights and so arrive at Eigg on Monday, we will only refund you for the Saturday night.

If the ferry sails and you choose not to travel to Eigg on your arrival date for any reason, no refund will be made for any overnight accommodation expenses incurred.

We strongly advise all our guests to take out travel insurance.
